Indian philosophical systems have shown different ways to understand about the truth behind this vast universe. It tried to examine the unreality about the material world. It led to the development of an illusion of pure knowledge and suggested that worldly action has no place. Indian philosophers rejected the arguments against this and called it as avidya. This resulted in the conflict between material knowledge and pure knowledge.

Vidya and avidya are Indian world views taken from Upanishads. It can be examined as the difference between science and spirituality.
