Friction: Types of Friction, Coefficient of Friction, Friction Examples in Daily Life
Edit
Friction
- It can be defined as the force between two surfaces that are sliding or trying to slide across each other.
- It always works in the direction opposite to the direction in which the object is moving or trying to move.
- Whenever we try to push anything say a wooden box along the floor, friction makes this difficult.
- Friction resists the relative motion of solid surfaces, fluid layers and materials elements sliding against each other.
- Unlike gravity or electromagnetism friction is not a fundamental force.
- Dry friction can be defined as the force that opposes the relative lateral motion of two surfaces in contact.
