Query: In 10 dharmas you mentioned only 9 - truthfulness, humility, forgiveness, sacrifice, non-attachment, celibacy, straightforward, contentment, cleanliness. Which is the one remaining?

Answer: In the Digambar tradition, the ten cardinal virtues of the soul known as das Dharma are forgiveness, humility, straight forwardness, contentment, truth, sensual restraint, austerities, charity, non-possessiveness, and celibacy.

These Dharmas are all prefixed by the word ‘Uttam’ (Supreme) for it signifies that these virtues are practiced at the highest level by the Jain monks. However, the laymen practises them to a lesser extent.
