Judicial Hierarchy in India
IndiaΥs unitary judicial system comprises of Supreme Court at national level along with 21 High Courts at state level, which have jurisdiction over a state, a union territory, or a group of states and union territories. Next in sequence lies the subordinate courts like civil courts, family courts, criminal courts, and various other district courts. States have judicial districts headed by District Judge (presiding judge for civil cases) or Sessions Judge (presiding judge for criminal cases) , who is highest judicial authority below High Court.
