Results of the Revolt of Khurram

  • After tremendous loss to the royal treasury and three years of bloodshed, this entire rebellion ended in futile.
  • It created a number of law and order problems and weakened the empire.
  • Waste of money and men was immeasurable.
  • The fame and bravery of Khurram was eclipsed as a result of civil war. It also heralded the rise of Prince Parvez and Mahabat Khan.
  • Noorjahan was alarmed with the rise of Prince Pravez and hence she watched his activities with great jealously. To break the unity among Prince Pravez and Mahabat Khan, she started humiliating Mahabat Khan which once took the country into a civil war.

Death of Jahangir

  • After releasing from the clutches of Mahabt Khan, Jahangir became sick. During the winter of 1626 - 27 AD, he lived at Lahore and proceeded to Kashmir in March.
  • He was physically shattered during his stay at Kashmir. He was unable to ride on horse-back, he grew so weak, and hence a Palki was used for his conveyance. He rejected opium and also lost his appetite for food. He returned to Lahore because he was losing his health. His conditions worsened and he breathed his last in 28th October near Bhimbhar.
  • Right after the death of Jahangir, a war of succession began between Noorjahan and Asaf Khan. Both intended to enthrone their son-in-law.
