Concept of social well-being was given by David M. Smith. World Health Organization (WHO, 1948) defined health as “complete state of physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely absence of infirmity” .
Dimensions of Wellness
Smith acknowledged that for an individual to be considered well, they should not only be technically “cured” of the disease, but also indicate three dimensions of well-being:
- Physical Well-Being: it is the ability to function normally in activities like bathing, dressing, eating, and moving around.
