Explanation

In the new great game, more focus is on the central Asian region but, the eastern part of the game lies in Afghanistan. According to General Assad Durrani, former ISI chief, Afghanistan’s underground resources are supposedly worth a trillion $. This explains why no one wants to loosen up their control over Afghan politics. China, US, Rusia, India, Iran, Pakistan are the main

competitors in this region. Apart from the resources, the strategic location of Afghanistan makes it more attractive, be it TAPI pipe line, Bandar –e Abbas to Zehedan railway corridor which makes it a junction to connect Persian gulf to central Asia and also India to central Asia by passing Pakistan, International North-South Corridor, makes it a nodal point of trade and connectivity.
