Types of Channel Models: Discrete Memory Less Channel or DMC, Binary Symmetric Channel or BSC

Edit

Discrete Memory Less Channel or DMC

In terms of the network, the discrete memory less channel has an input X and an output Y. As the name would suggest mathematically, the random variables X and Y are discrete and can take on a finite number of possible values. At any given time (t) , the channel output only depends on the input at that time (t) and it does not depend on the past history of the input.

Channel Outputs

As per the notation being used, the Discrete Memory less Channel is represented by the conditional probability of the output given the input.

The property of depending on…

Types of Channel Models: E. Burst Channel

Edit
  • The approach behind the design of codes, which meet the channel capacities of BSC, have been to correct a lesser number of errors with a high probability, and to achieve the highest possible rate. Shannon՚s theorem, which we will see in a different perspective later on, gives us the best rate, which could be achieved over a , but it does not give us an idea of any explicit codes, which achieve…
