Passage
Read the given passage and answer the questions that follow
The transition from nomadic to settled life was largely the result of an economic revolution based on the cultivation of certain food plants like wheat, barley and rice and the domestication of some animals like cattle, sheep, goat, pig and buffalo. The step had a profound effect on the history of mankind. The people became sedentary and the assured supply of food gave rise to a rapid increase in population. Bones bearing cut and charring marks show that pork, beef and other types of animal food were taken in large quantities. The essential criterion of domestication is that man intends to breed the captured animals of a certain wild species under artificial conditions. Domestication is both a cultural and biological process.
