Disorders of growth hormone are caused both by high secretion and low secretin of growth hormone.

Increased secretion: the pituitary is enlarged and if the gland presses optic chiasma it ultimately affects vision. Excessive secretion of growth hormone causes clinical conditions like

Hormones of Placenta

Placenta is the intimate connection between the foetus and the uterine wall of mother for the exchange of the nutrients. Placenta is a temporary endocrine gland present during pregnancy. It secrets some hormones; like estradiol, progesterone, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and human chorionic somatotropin (hCS). Their functions are

  • However the main function of the placental progesterone is to check the contraction of uterine muscles and thus helps to maintain pregnancy.
