Diet contains carbohydrates in three forms;

  • Polysaccharides; as starch and cellulose present in cereal grains, potato, tubers and fruits.

  • Disaccharides; present as sucrose in cane sugar, lactose in milk and maltose in malt.

Digestion in GIT - Digestion of lipids

Diet: Almost all of the dietary lipids are triglycerides (neutral fats), small quantities of cholesterol, lecithin etc are also present. Triglycerides are made up of a single glycerol molecule and three fatty acid molecules. These are present as mono-, di- and tri-glycerides.
