Types of Respiration

Types of respiration is of two types

  • Anaerobic respiration; when the food is oxidized without using molecular oxygen it is called anaerobic respiration. This type of respiration is seen in; anaerobic bacteria, yeast, many parasitic animals like Taenia (tape worm), Fasciola (liver fluke), Ascaris etc. in anaerobic respiration less energy is produced. In microorganism term fermentation is used in place of anaerobic respiration.
