Achievement motive is a social motive. It is largely learnt and differentiated in early life. According to McClelland, children with high achievement motivation come from families:
- Where child is motivated to be self-reliant.
- Where child has limited restrictions on actions.
- Where parents are loving and caring.
- Where parents reward the child՚s achievement behavior.
- Where family size is small.
