India has 500 million ton of livestock and ranks first in buffalo population, second in cattle population, second in goat population, and third in sheep population worldwide. In 2016, country՚s milk production was 105.42 million ton, which was highest in the world. Livestock also contributed 50 million eggs, 45 million kg of wool, and 2.3 million ton of meat.
