- Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi, Bengali, Assamese, Gujarati, Sindhi, Oriya, Nepali, and Kashmiri owe their origin to the Indo- European family.
- Sanskrit, Pali and Prakrit belong to the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European family of languages.
