  • Chashtana may have originally ruled in Sind area as subordinate of Kushanas. After Nahapana՚s death, he seems to have been a viceroy of south-western provinces of Kushana empire.
  • Kardamakes had a practice of senior and junior rulers, who had titles Mahakshatrapa and Kshatrapa respectively.
  • For instance, during lifetime of Mahakshatrapa Chashtana, his son Jayadaman, and later his grandson Rudradaman I, were Kshatrapas.
  • Chashtana was succeeded as Mahakshatrapa by Rudradaman I sometime after 130 - 31 CE.
