Main Problems of Indian Railways
Some of problems faced by railways are:
- Heavy Pressure: With the increase in population, industrialization, and urbanization, there is heavy pressure of passengers and goods on the railways.
- Economic Burden: There are about 17 lakh railway employees, out of which about 45% are unskilled. Many of the workers are not efficient and dedicated. This puts tremendous economic burden on the railway operations.
- Faulty Planning: Under political pressure and interference, several economically unviable railway projects have been introduced. Due to appeasement policies, railway fares have also become unviable.

Air Transport: Introduction, Classification of Air Transport
Introduction
This is the fastest mode of transport that carries goods (less bulky and high value) and passengers by airways using various aircrafts like passenger aircraft, cargo aircraft, helicopters, etc. In 1911, first air transport started between 10 km route of Allahabad and Naini in India with initiation of airmail operation.
- There are more than 335 civilian airports in India and more than 20 international airports.
- The Indira Gandhi International Airport (New Delhi) and the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (Mumbai) handle more than half of the air traffic of South Asia.
