Erosional karst landforms can be classified as follows:

  • Re-entrant Forms: These formations are made by rock dissolution usually with concave or pitted features. These include dolines, karstic lakes, uvalas, poljes, blind valleys, canyons, sinks, and caves.
  • Residual Forms: These correspond to the prominent features produced in the areas that resisted the action of the time: rock towers, mount, arches, and natural bridges.

Cave Systems: Caves usually form in upper zone of saturation (phreatic zone) where mixture of water in vadose and phreatic zones occur, but significant dissolution is likely in the vadose zone. With time, changing water table causes caves formation at different levels.
