Polyculture and crop rotation form the two main aspects of cropping systems.

Polyculture

Polyculture uses multiple crops in the same space, providing crop diversity and avoids monoculture. It includes:

  • Multi-Cropping: Multiple cropping grows two or more crops in the same piece of land during a single growing season. For example, rice-potato-sunflower followed by rice-wheat-moong. The crops grown together like “rice-potato-sunflower” are multi-cropped.
