Ozone was discovered by French physicists Charles Fabry and Henri Buisson in 1913.16th September is celebrated as the world ozone day.

Ozone layer protects earth by absorbing certain kinds of UV rays. There are three wavelength ranges of UV rays, which are of significance for this discussion:

  • UV-C is short wavelength (280nm - 100nm) . Hence, it is also called short wave UV. It is most damaging and totally filtered by the atmosphere. It is also germicidal.
