A Brief Introduction

  • Thomas Stearns Eliot (1888 - 1965) was an eminent poet, literary critic, and dramatist of the twentieth century.
  • Eliot was one of the representative writers of the Modern age in English literature, the period between 1890 and 1950. Other famous modernist authors include James Joyce, D. H. Lawrence, Virginia Woolf, and Ezra Pound.
  • In 1948, Eliot was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.
