  • John Milton (1608 - 1674) was born on December 9,1608, into a prosperous bourgeois family. He was educated at St. Paul՚s School in London and Christ՚s College, Cambridge. From 1641 he gave up poetry for prose polemics for the sake of Puritan causes.
